Position: Expert Java Developer - with GeoTools expertise (NL)
Location: Brussels, Belgium
Type: Hybrid (Minimum 2 days per week in the office)
Language Requirement: Dutch (CEFR level C2)
Role Description: We are seeking an Expert Java Developer with experience with experience working with GEO Tools This role requires a hands-on expert to lead technical development efforts while supporting and coaching team members. You will work in a dynamic environment where collaboration and high-quality delivery are key.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Java-based applications with a focus on performance, scalability, and quality.
- Implement solutions using GeoTools and JTS for geospatial functionality.
- Collaborate with teams to design and deliver solutions using Spring (Boot).
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code in Java and JavaScript.
- Lead programming assignments, including coding, testing, and debugging.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to development teams.
- Participate actively in Agile development processes, taking a leading role when required.
MUST HAVE SKILLS:
- 8+ years of demonstrable experience with:
- Java and JavaScript.
- 5+ years of demonstrable experience with:
- Developing Java-based applications.
- Spring (Boot) framework.
- Demonstrable expertise with GeoTools and JTS.
- Certification or equivalent experience in Java/J2EE programming languages and environments.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- 5+ years of demonstrable experience as a Technical Architect.
- Proven experience within the public sector.
- Familiarity with QGIS.
- Demonstrable experience in leading development teams and coaching developers.
- Strong ability to execute programming assignments seamlessly, including coding, testing, and debugging.
- Solid understanding of and experience with Agile development methodologies, with the ability to take a leadership role in Agile processes.
